My foundations
After a degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex, I worked in website management roles, including at the BBC, when the internet was still young.
After a few years, I brought those skills to my family’s publishing company, where I led for many years on technology and IT, with a strong emphasis on building systems that worked for people, not the other way around.
During this time, in my early 30s, I totally changed my life by learning taekwondo. The ethos and discipline of the martial art, with the support of my instructors and classmates, helped me become the person I wanted to be. The tenets of taekwondo remain a guiding principle for me to this day: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.

Having gained so much as a student, I found greater learning and development through starting a local club. My partner and I ran this successfully for 10 years, experiencing the honour of teaching hundreds of children and adults along the way.
In 2024, I wanted to expand what I had learnt in my martial arts training and this led to me taking an MSc in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology. Simply put, this is the science of what makes a good life, and how to coach people using these ideas. My research project was developing and building a course and tool for martial arts instructors, to help them learn more from their teaching, and become better, happier, instructors.
My life today
I now coach children, teenagers and adults from all walks of life. I’m an EMCC Accredited Coach at Foundation level and hold an enhanced DBS check.
In my spare time I like to ski, snowboard and hike in the French Alps.
